Grab your bike and join St. Marys Riverkeeper as we ride along a portion of Trail Ridge and learn about the Okefenokee Swamp and Chesser Island Landfill. Our Guest speaker will discuss the landfill and the impacts it may have on the St. Marys River watershed. Route is Swamp Island Drive which is a 7.5 miles roundtrip on a paved, flat road. Halfway, we will stop at the observation tower where you can get a look into the swamp.

This is a looped route, so we will return to the same spot as we departed. Join us afterwards for lunch at the Okefenokee Adventures Cafe.

*Please note: we will not be riding past Chesser Landfill and we may not even be able to see it during the trip. Chesser Landfill is nearly 2 miles south of the entrance to the NWR on Okefenokee Parkway. This road is very hazardous with landfill and logging trucks. It is encouraged that you drive past the Landfill prior to or after the bike trip. PLEASE DO NOT TAKE YOUR BIKE ON OKEFENOKEE PARKWAY!
