This is our biggest fundraising event of the year to help support our advocacy, outreach, and citizen science programs. Join us at 6:00pm for live music from Firewater Tent Revival, an outstanding silent auction and raffle, a delicious lowcountry boil, door prize, and MORE all to celebrate the St. Marys River and support St. Marys Riverkeeper.
As development explodes throughout the St. Marys River watershed, the need to regularly test the water quality grows in urgency. Without the support of our members and sponsors, our beautiful black water river would be vulnerable to pollution and degradation. Don’t miss this opportunity to TOAST to the 50th anniversary of the Clean Water Act and celebrate our successes to ensure we all have a healthy and thriving St. Marys River. We look forward to seeing all of our friends there!

In 1975, the American and Spanish governments negotiated that the 31st parallel would be the boundary line between their territories. Andrew Ellicot was commissioned to be the the surveyor and he and his team set out to determine the headwaters of the St. Marys River. “When he (Ellicto) reached the great Okefenokee where the tannin-stained stream emerged uninterrupted and relatively strong, he declared that to be the true source of the St. Marys River” (Baker County Press). Ellicot made a mound to mark the spot of his declaration.
Featured Artist: Chris Dougherty
Originally from the Hudson Valley area of New York, Chris grew up spending his time engaged in outdoor activities. He would often walk through the hardwood forest flipping logs and rocks to examine the creatures underneath. He has lived on the Georgia Coast since the mid 1990’s and is naturally drawn to the marshes, creeks, and ocean. To this day, he often seeks to spend time out on the water. Because of his love for the outdoors, he strives to recreate his sense of reverence for nature through the arts and connect the viewer with what they are seeing.
Chris is currently working on a painting of the St. Marys River which will be avaialble in our silent auction at the Gala.
